Summary: Top-ranked AM multinational law firm is seeking an Associate Director to support the New York Corporate Practice Team within the Marketing & Business Development Department. The Business Development group operates alongside more than 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to business development, marketing and communications. The right candidate will manage teams of pitch professionals and will be responsible for executing, drafting, and identifying speaking opportunities. The New York Business Development team facilitate various projects and initiatives to drive the development of new business.
Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Firm Directors and Partners to develop and execute strategic initiatives
-
Proactively suggest ideas to improve the profile and positioning of the practice internally and externally
-
Utilize Bloomberg, ThomsonOne, Pitchbook, Preqin, Capital IQ, Manzama, etc. to understand the industry from a business intelligence perspective
-
Manage a team of Business Development professionals; over pitch production from the opportunity to execution; guide the team in drafting and adjusting content to be industry and stakeholder-specific
-
Collaborate with Partners to develop compelling, clear and concise marketing materials
-
Strategically guide content and marketing material within proposals, RFP response, survey/directory submissions, websites, biographies, etc.
-
Constantly manage and review market, industry and client trends through in-depth transactional research
-
Oversee tracking and reporting of Business Development initiatives; adjust team focus as needed
-
Develop targeted visibility opportunities (seminars, sponsorship, speaking engagements, etc.)
-
Collaborate with the global business development team from a system, operational, tactical and knowledge management point of view.

Requirements:

5+ years of BD or marketing experience in a law firm, finance or investment banking environment
-
A JD (Juris Doctorate) is required
-
Strong Project Management skills; control large pitches and proposals
-
Strong knowledge and understanding of Corporate Transactions and M&A
-
Exceptional communication and listening skills
-
Proven ability to organize and manage a diverse range of projects, prioritizing multiple tasks with competing deadlines (at times in high-pressure situations)

Proficient with various research databases: i.e. Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, ThomsonOne, Pitchbook, Manzama, The Deal Pipeline, Preqin, Refinitiv

Summary: Top-ranked multinational law firm is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support the New York Marketing & Business Development Department. This position reports to Business Development Investment Funds Manager. The Business Development group operates alongside more than 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to business development, marketing and communications.
Responsibilities:

Consult with the New York partnership on the development and execution of meaningful strategic business development and marketing initiatives for the region
-
Gather data from various sources/databases to compile a variety of intelligence briefings, including (but not limited to): company/private equity firm profiles, relationship intelligence documents and biographical dossiers
-
Engage in comprehensive research of the Firm’s transactions across a wide breadth of industries, geographies and transaction types using a variety of internal and external resources, including Bloomberg, The Deal Pipeline, CapIQ, Pitchbook, Deal Point Data, PrivateRaise, Preqin, ThomsonOne and others
-
Accurately capture and maintain comprehensive transaction deals in the Firm’s experience database
-
Create manuals and resource materials for the experience database, outlining best practices for researching and recording transactions as well as helping to develop definitions and taxonomies
-
Provide research, coordination and other logistical assistance in connection with the origination and execution of new business pitches and related client development meetings and activities
-
Refine and curate core materials related to specific industries, practice descriptions and representative experience
-
Research, develop, and manage on-point visibility opportunities, such as industry seminars and speaking/sponsorship opportunities to increase an individual or the group’s profile
-
Monitor alerts and news flow to support proactive team initiatives
-
Conduct competitive intelligence and benchmarking research within an industry or among peer firms
-
Assist with collecting NY-specific litigation case experience to record in case tracking database
-
Update data in the Firm’s marketing CRM database, including the review and creation of mailing lists
-
Review and consult with attorneys on new content, including matters and awards/rankings, and focus of their biographies
-
Work alongside the Events team to put together client events
-
Work with all functions of the greater Business Development & Marketing team, including Operations, Development, Systems, Communications, and Business Intelligence
Required Skills
-
4+ years of BD or marketing experience in a law firm, finance or investment banking environment
-
Bachelor’s Degree Required, Advanced degree a plus!
-
Deep knowledge of litigation and or Corporate Governance/M&A litigation and or Securities & Shareholder litigation
-
Exceptional communication and listening skills, including an innate ability to communicate with stakeholders
-
Proven ability to organize and manage a diverse range of projects, prioritizing multiple tasks with competing deadlines (at times in high-pressure situations)
-
Very strong project management abilities to lead and control large, complex pitches, proposals and RFPs
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
